Tips on Buying Baby Clothing for First Time Parents
Buying baby clothes for your newborn can be so much fun and wonderful, especially for first time parents who are still new to the whole situation. Mixed feelings aside, the experience of embarking on a new journey can be really lovely, and you should always cherish every moment of it with your spouse. Seeing cute little socks, hats, dresses, pants, and shirts on display will surely melt your heart. Although there isn’t any restrictions that you should follow when it comes to buying baby clothes, it’s advisable if you buy some baby clothing that are most essentials for newborn babies (such as socks, gloves, shirts, hats, and pants) as opposed to the second important baby clothes that are meant to be worn as additional accessories prior to your due date.
When you’ve purchased some basic baby clothing, you should buy another batch of baby clothing once you’ve thrown a baby shower and once your baby is born since you’ll get lots of baby gifts which mainly consist of baby clothing and accessories. Meanwhile, there are tips for the first time parents on buying the right baby clothing that will save them a lot of money and have long-lasting baby items:

- Remember to limit the amount of swaddling blankets you purchase since not all babies like to be swaddled.
- Never buy special towels for your child as it is harder to use as opposed to the regular towels. Those special towels you’ve been eying at could be really hard to position on your shoulder when you’re holding your child. Besides, you’ll get these towels as gifts anyway, so why bother spending any extra dime on it?
- Never overstock on nursing accessories such as freezer bags for breast milk storage, cooling pads, or breast shields. Unless you had some experiences in breastfeeding, you won’t know how it’s going to be like for you and your baby until you do it.
- Don’t bother to buy any bibs as the majority of baby clothes that you’ll get as gifts will usually come with bibs.
- Remember to buy some cheap washcloths. You’ll need to throw them all out anyway once you’ve wiped out and cleaned our baby.
- Remember to buy a bag of cloth diapers so that you could use them as burp cloths.
- Never buy the typical burp cloths since they tend to be so expensive and small.
- Never buy shoes (yet). A newborn baby doesn’t need shoes.
- Remember to never buy six-month size baby clothing until your baby has been born. Plus, you’ll get a lot of gifts in that size anyway so there’s no need for it.
- Never buy too many 3-month size or newborn items since each size will only lasts for several weeks until everything shrinks in the wash.
- Remember to buy some pair of baby socks. You could also use them on your child’s hands as mittens if you’d like to save on money.
- Try to not buy mittens as they won’t stay put on a newborn’s small hands.
